Syn-Star was created in August 2002 by Giles Cleverley.

2002 TO 2004

Initially in the music and telecoms market, the first store opened in Chapel Street, Petersfield, which soon branched into an I.T. support for business clients. In 2004, we took over ‘The Phone Shop’ in the Square, Petersfield and created the first Syn-Star PC Store. We soon became Microsoft partners enabling us to fix all types of laptop, desktop and servers. This started the fixed price, guaranteed repair service and as well as the Petersfield area, we attracted customers from East Meon, Liphook, Bordon and then across the County through Lavant, Emsworth and Hayling Island to Chichester. Then through Clanfield, Rowlands Castle, Horndean and Denmead towards Portsmouth.

2005 TO 2009

In 2005 we took over Sandy’s Computers in Southsea and started to repair Laptops and Desktops PCs from our store in Albert Road. In 2009 we opened the North End store, as we felt there was a requirement throughout Copnor, Fratton, Cosham, Purbrook, Waterlooville and Cowplain.


Syn-Star won the prestigious ‘Business of the Year award’ at the Petersfield Business and Community Awards. A real focus is put on supporting local companies of varying sizes.


We experienced very solid growth through our attention to detail with Business I.T. support.


We successfully acquired two companies to help with our steady growth into the corporate I.T. market.


What a great start to 2013 – continual growth and some excellent plans for the coming years. With the addition of four extra team members throughout the year, allowing specialised support in specific areas.

We always strive to give you the customer the best possible service at the best possible price and we always aim to create I.T. you can swear by, not at.


What a great start to 2014! – Winning the Retailer of the Year Award at the East Hampshire Business Awards. We have had very solid continual growth and some excellent plans that have really helped us move forward … Our Portsmouth store had a complete rebuild, this enabled the Business I.T. Department to increase it’s capacity and enable steady growth. We also opened our dedicated team training facility, which is fundamental to our three year goal of being the highest trained and most referred I.T. Support company in Hampshire.


What a tremendous year so far! We have followed through with our plans to expand and we relocated our Petersfield shop to Rake! The move allowed us to have more space for repairs as well as a greater office space. However, it was a sad goodbye to our beloved Petersfield store as we were there for 11 years, but we are more than excited to see what journey lies ahead!


A great year for Syn-Star settling in to our new home in Rake and we have even got ourselves a new member of staff called Dean who has joined us as a technician. This year we sponsored The Petersfield Awards – supporting the category, best food establishment, which was given to the very worthy winners in the heart of Petersfield, The Spice Lounge.


Syn-Star has been joined by some new team members in 2017, starting with Chris who will join as a technician, Lucy in Marketing, Mark our new account manager and three new sales people, Rui, Yasmin and Chrissy! July the 14th we saw the return of The Petersfield Awards where we sponsored the best food establishment award again. Congratulations to the Spice Lounge. This great evening also saw us donating £400 to the Brain Tumour charity after hearing a remarkable story from a young individual. We are looking forward to what the rest of 2017 has in store for us!
